Brill’s Senior Acquisitions Editor, Masja Horn, will attend the Historical Fictions Research Network Conference in Manchester (13–14 February 2025). This year’s theme, PLACE in Historical Fictions, explores the role of narrative in constructing historical meaning. The conference brings together scholars from diverse disciplines, including literature, cultural studies, and media. Meet Masja to discuss publishing opportunities at Brill in these fields.
New Series: Narratives and Mental Health
Our new book series Narratives and Mental Health explores how narratives shape mental health care, representation, and understanding. Edited by Jarmila Mildorf, Elisabeth Punzi, Christoph Singer, and Cornelia Wächter, this series bridges disciplines such as literary studies, narratology, and psychiatry. The first three volumes focus on pandemic storytelling, non-normative bodies and minds, and the heritage of psychiatry. Authors are cordially invited to submit proposals for manuscripts to the publisher at BRILL, Masja Horn.
New Series: Semiotics – Signs of the Times
Brill proudly introduces Semiotics: Signs of the Times, edited by Dinda L. Gorlée. This series explores the theory and application of signs in fields such as linguistics, philosophy, fine arts, and anthropology. Covering topics from language to architecture, it examines how signs convey meaning across contexts. The first two volumes investigate semiotic ideologies and Wittgenstein’s contributions to semiotics. Researchers are encouraged to submit proposals and/or full manuscripts to the publisher at BRILL, Christa Stevens.
