The concept, function, and employment of ‘belonging’ will vary depending on the background of the scholar and the use to which it is being put. The main interpretations of ‘belonging’ are considered here: affiliation, membership, identification, behaviour, and belief. Consideration is then made of multiple belongings and materiality. ⸙
