English scholar. Born in Lancashire; died in Cambrai, 1602. Bachelor of Arts in Cambridge in 1557-58. In 1562 he was logic reader of the University but got expelled for 'suspicious doctrine'. He went to Italy, then to France, and finally to the Low Countries. In 1570 he was matriculated as student at the English College in Douai. He was ordained priest and took the degree of D.D. in the University of Douai. In 1580 he became divinity professor at the English College at Reims, and was likely appointed a canon of the cathedral of Cambrai. Cf. Dictionary of National Biography, 50, 1897, pages 264-265.
