Guillaume d'Assonleville (Arras, 1565 - died 1597) became doctor in law at the University of Louvain on 16 December 1588, at the age of 23. He was the son of Christopher d'Assonleville, lord of Hauteville, president of the Privy Council in the later years of the 16th century and as such one of the most powerful men of the Southern Netherlands.
