Brabant humanist. Brussels, 17 July 1555 - Antwerp, 9 January 1609. Born in a wealthy family, Bochius did his humanities in high schools at Lier and Ath. He made the traditional voyage to Italy, travelling from there in 1578 through Poland and Lithuania to Muscovy. After the reddition of Antwerp to Philip II in 1585, he was, through the intervention of Alexander Farnese, appointed clerk of the city of Antwerp. Cf.
