BUSBEQUIUS, Ogerius Ghislenus

Ogier Ghiselin, lord of Busbecq. Comines, 1522 - Rouen, 28 October 1592. He studied at the University of Louvain and visited the Universities of Paris, Bologna, and Padua. Ambassador of Emperor Ferdinand at the Court of the Ottoman Sultan from the end of 1553 till 1562. After some other missions he was sent to France, where he remained from 1574 till his death.
