German humanist and teacher. Clausen (near Elberfeld), 1509 - Düsseldorf, 9 September 1564. Magister artium at the Collegium Montanum at Cologne in 1529. Taught at Essen (1532) and Cologne, to become in 1545, at the foundation of the College of Düsseldorf by Duke William of Cleves, director of this institution. Cf.
