Flemish musician and poet. Ghent, 2 May 1542 - Liège, 15 July 1581. Studied at the Universities of Cologne and Louvain. His uncle Livinus Torrentius, then vicar-general of Liège, had him appointed canon at St. Martin in Liège. He died only 39 years old, drowned by accident in the Meuse. Cf. Biographie Nationale [de Belgique], 5, 1876, Columns 610-611. His death is recalled in a letter of Torrentius to Plantin, 13 December 1584 (Corr., VII, no. 1030).
