Brabant lexicographer. Duffel, 1528/29 - Antwerp, 15 April 1607. He entered Plantin's service in 1558 and remained proof-reader in the Plantin Press till his death. The most important 16th century lexicographer of the Dutch language and in fact the father of modern Dutch lexicography, his life, works and influence have been detailed and continue to be studied in an impressive number of treatises.
