| Note 2 | On the title-page was first specified 'le…iour de la publication des Pardons', the number having been erased in the copy of Museum Plantin-Moretus and the two copies of KBR Royal Library of Belgium (not checked in the other known copies). In the two copies of KBR Royal Library of Belgium, however, has been added in ink the number XXXIII (…le XXXIII iour de la publication…). This makes no sense as Richardot held his sermon on Sunday, 16 July 1570, on the day of the publication of the General Pardon. Very likely, by mistake, had been printed 'le…(perhaps XXXIIIe) iour de la publication', and has Plantin been obliged to correct the mistake by erasing the number in all the copies (and on page [3] as well, where in the Museum Plantin-Moretus-copy the heading, which must also have shown the error, was corrected by hand from '…iour de la publication' into: 'etc. le iour de la publication'). |
