Note 3The sale of Hortulus animae is noted in Plantin's ledger (Arch. 38) from 27 February 1557 onwards. As Plantin in that same year published also a Hortulus animae ad usum Romanum (see cp011617), it is not always possible to distinguish between the two publications. Anyway 6 'Hortulus animae liege', worth 18 stuivers, are explicitly noted on 9 April 1557 (to Martin Nutius; folio 5 verso). References to other sales in 1557, 1558, and 1559, in Arch. 38: folios 1 verso, 4 verso, 5bis verso, 7 verso, 9 verso, 11 verso, 14 verso, 19 verso, 28 verso, 54 verso.
