Note 3 | The sale of Hortulus animae is noted in Plantin's ledger (Arch. 38) from 27 February 1557 onwards. As Plantin in that same year published also a Hortulus animae ad usum Romanum (see cp011617), it is not always possible to distinguish between the two publications. Anyway 6 'Hortulus animae liege', worth 18 stuivers, are explicitly noted on 9 April 1557 (to Martin Nutius; folio 5 verso).
