Note 1Dutch translation of the 1566 Latin edition: a) The anatomical plates of Valverda with their accompanying explanations (this time, however, the 42 plates, printed on the recto-side, verso-side blank, have been brought together into one part, while the accompanying text is similarly brought together: pages 1-139; b) Vesalius, Epitome (pages 141-196 [= for 198]).
Note 2Plantin's Latin dedicatory to the Antwerp magistrate in the 1566-edition had been replaced by a French one to Gerard Grammay, in which the typographer digresses at length on the human body.
Note 3As early as 1566 Plantin commissioned Martin Evrard to make 'la traduction de l'Anatomie en flameng'. The translator was paid 24 florins Carolus guilders on 12 May 1566 (Arch. 3, folio 50r).
Note 4Of the edition 450 copies must have been printed, as in 1567, after 12 July, is noted in Arch. 3, folio 64r: 'Il [= Pieter Huys] a imprimé pour nous 450 livres d'anatomie complets qui contiennent 43 planches chacun volume'.
Note 5Listed in M 296, folio 1v (Anatomie met coperen figuren duysch [Anatomy with copper illustrations Dutch], f[euilles] -, [price:] stuivers 50), and M 164, folio 2v.
