Note 1 | The preserved works of Juvenalis and Persius, edited and annotated by Theodorus Pulmannus. |
Note 2 | In the dedicatory to Joannes Flemingus, Pulmannus gives technical details, affirming to have used for the text, the scholia and the annotations three manuscripts (his own; one presented to him by Jacobus Miggrodius; a copy made of the manuscript at the collegiate church of St. Catherine at Nijmegen). Moreover, Hadrianus Junius forwarded to Pulmannus the 'lectionis varietates' found in Junius's own manuscript (in his letter of 29 November 1567 to Granvelle Plantin tells, among other things, that Hadrianus Junius in the past years had been quite busy on a number of works, including 'la recognition de Juvenal, Perse et Martial (lesquels i'ay tous imprimés)': Suppl. Corr., no. 47). |
Note 3 | Annotations and remarks concerning Juvenalis and Persius are found in the manuscript notes of Pulmannus preserved in Museum Plantin-Moretus (Denucé, Manuscrits, no. 81). |
Note 4 | The cost-accounting note in Arch. 4, folio 77, gives the following details about 'Juvenalis in 8º': the wages for composing and printing are entered from 3 February until 10 March 1565, and amount to 15 florins Carolus guilders 9 stuivers; 1,250 copies were printed for which 27 reams of 'papier petit bastard' were used, which, at 1 florins Carolus guilders 4 stuivers per ream, came to 32 florins Carolus guilders 8 stuivers, bringing the overall costs to 47 florins Carolus guilders 17 stuivers |
Note 5 | Listed in M 296, folio 9v (Iuvenalis et Persius in 8º, f[euilles] 10, [price:] stuivers 1½). |
