Note 1 | Malines, having seceded from the Generality, was taken by the soldiers of the States-General and plundered on 9 April 1580. This did raise a great commotion. In order to excuse the behaviour of their army, in this pamphlet the States-General detail the negotiations with Malines from June 1579 until April 1580, trying to show that what had happened in Malines was only the fault of the responsible authorities of the city. Contains: pages 3-13: Introduction, giving a historical narrative of the negotiations with Malines, s. I.D.L.; 14-80: Series of letters, documents and agreements concerning those negotiations (2 July 1579 until 21 February 1580); 81-85: Conclusion. |
