Note 3 The printing was finished before 24 December 1588, as on that day Jan Moretus sent 12 copies 'Avvisi dela India' to an Italian merchant living in the Netherlands, Paolo Francheschi, as a gift from Plantin, to be distributed by Francheschi amongst his friends (Correspondance de C. Plantin, VIII-IX, no. 1423).
