Note 1Religious treatise: ‘Meditations on Death and the Immorality of the Soul’, compiled from the Bible, the church-fathers and other religious authorities, in 7 ‘books’ (pages 19-507), with, as a kind of conclusion, a chapter from Lactantius, Divinarum institutionum libri (pages 508-509).
Note 2Of this edition 1,250 copies were printed (Arch. 788).
Note 3In 1586 St. Winandus Pighius submitted to Plantin for publication a manuscript of Kyspenningius, Aquae vitae de fontibus salvatoris, having thus the same title as Plantin’s 1583-edition, but seemingly considered by all parties interested to be a different work. Plantin finally did not print the treatise (cf. letters to Arias Montanus, 22 May 1586 [Corr., VII, no. 1103], to H. Gravius, 22 May 1586 [Ibidem, no. 1105], to the same, 31 July 1586 [Corr., VIII-IX, no. 1121]).
