Note 1 | Reprint of the 1566-edition, but this time divided into two volumes: a Pars Hyemalis and a Pars Aestivalis. Of each of the two volumes copies circulated with either the address of Plantin or of his Antwerp colleague, Antonius Tilenius. |
Note 2 | According to the colophon the printing was already finished in August 1567. |
Note 3 | Plantin printed in 1567 the Conciones…dominicis diebus (in 2 volumes) and the Conciones…festis (in 2 volumes) (see no. cp010963). The cost-accounting note in Arch. 4, folio 122, gives the following details about 'Conciones Topiarii'. The wages for composing and printing are entered on 28 August 1567: 'Pour l'impression de 18 feille primae partis (= Conciones…dominicis diebus, Pars Hyemalis); Impression de 19 feilles secundae partis (= Conciones…dominicis diebus, Pars Aestivalis); Impression 8 feilles in quarta parte (Conciones…festis, Pars Aestivalis); Impression de 8 feilles in tertia parte (Conciones…festis, Pars Hyemalis); Item pour les 2½ feilles premieres de Tempore (Conciones…dominicis diebus, Pars Hyemalis); Item pour 10 feilles encores de Sanctis (Conciones…festis); in all 175 florins Carolus guilders 18 stuivers (including 8 florins Carolus guilders 'Pour nostre part ascavoir la moictié de la faceon des indices et recognition du livre'), of which half - i.e. 87 florins Carolus guilders 19 stuivers - for Plantin, the other half for Tilenius. As each edition contains 65 sheets and as 1,250 copies were printed 'on a esté employé pour nostre moictié' 86 reams of paper 'fin petit bastard', which, at 1 florins Carolus guilders 8 stuivers per ream, came to 120 florins Carolus guilders 8 stuivers, bringing the overall costs for Plantin's part to 207 florins Carolus guilders 17 stuivers (= in fact 208 florins Carolus guilders 7 stuivers) 'Qui est la pièce de tempore et de sanctis (d'autant que nous n'en avons que 625 qui coustent lesd. 207 florins Carolus guilders 17 stuivers) la pièce moins de 7 stuivers'. |
Note 4 | Listed in M 296, folio 18v (Topiarius Conciones complet, sine Quadragesimali [= meaning Conciones…dominicis diebus and Conciones…festis together], in 8⁰, a⁰ 1568, continent f[euilles] 65½, [price:] stuivers 18). This implies that the 4 volumes of Conciones…dominicis diebus and Conciones…festis were normally sold together. |
