Note 1Edited by Theodorus Pulmannus. A very careful editor, Pulmannus neglects this time to enumerate the manuscripts he used nor does he give specific details in the dedicatory to Gerardus Falkenburgius. It may be assumed, however, that he followed closely the manuscript preserved in Museum Plantin-Moretus (9th century ms. with annotations in hands of the 12th and 14th centuries and remarks made in the 16th century, probably by Pulmannus himself: cf. Denucé, Manuscrits, no. 190, pages 147-148).
Note 2The dedicatory is dated 8 October 1561. The edition was already on the market a month later: 50 copies 'Boethius de consol. phil. 1562' were sent to Martin le Jeune at Paris on 18 November 1561; 12 copies, worth 18 stuivers, to Gillis Gillis (for Birckman, Cologne?) on 16 December 1561; 4 copies, worth 4 stuivers, to Maternus Cholinus, Cologne, on 7 January 1562 (Arch. 36, folios 16v, 17r, 17v).
Note 3Listed in M 164, folio 3v, and M 296, folio 2r (Boethius de consolatione philosopiȩ, 16⁰, f[euilles] 12, [price:] stuivers 1½).
Note 4The work is mentioned in a letter of Plantin to de Cayas, 19 December 1566 (Corr., I, no. 21, page 54).
