Note 1 M 321, sub 1589, mentions a Dutch translation of the Manuale catholicorum: 'Handtboeck der catholijcken om godvruchtelyck te bidden bij een vergadert / door den Eer. V. Peeter Canisius des broederschaps Jesu / doctoor inder Godtheyt, 12⁰, f[euilles] 14 [= 336 pages], [price:] stuivers 3½, cum figuris aeneis stuivers 8'. Also listed with the same data in M 296, folio 9r. This means consequently, that, as was the case with the Latin and French editions of the Manuale catholicorum, a number of copies were illustrated with woodcuts (and sold 3½ stuivers), whilst other copies were ornated with intaglio-illustrations (and sold 8 stuivers).
Note 2Not mentioned in RDB, De Backer-Sommervogel, and BCN. No copy known.
Note 3A copy was mailed at the end of 1588 or the beginning of 1589 (between 24 December 1588 - 17 January 1589) by Jan Moretus to the widow of Franciscus Crucius (Van den Cruyce) (Corr., VIII-IX, no. 1426).
Note 4This Dutch edition is also mentioned in Plantin's foreword to the 1589-French translation, dated 28 January 1589 (see no. cp012414). The work, consequently, was very likely already on the market at the end of 1588.
