Note 1Reprint of the 1568-edition, with some changes (the Appendix ex scriptis D. Jacobi Silvii has been cut into two halves: the second part, under the title Succedanea, quid pro quo vocant, has been moved after some of the additions, to pages 465-473, together with the note to the reader of Coudenbergius, page 474), and with a number of additions prepared by Mathias Lobelius: Diarium pharmacorum parandorum, et simplicium legendorum a Matthia Lobelio collectum (pages 444-454; arranged by months); Aliquot medicamenta composita habere in promptu operae pretium (pages 455-464; also arranged by Lobelius as can be deduced from the introducing phrase at the bottom of page 454: 'Sequuntur et nonnulla purgantia medicamenta M. Lobelii'); De succedaneis Lobelii, imitatione Rondeletii, e cuius fragmentis et praelectionibus haec fere decerpta sunt (pages 475-514).
Note 2The work was already printed at the end of 1579, as Plantin, in a letter of 10 December 1579 to J. Buyssetius (Corr., VI, no. 851, page 115), includes 'Dispensatorium Val. Cordi recognitum et auctum variis' in the list of his finished publications.
