Note 2 | The privilege is granted to the author, in an unspecified year. He probably contacted Plantin some time before 1568, but the typographer must have hesitated before finally deciding to publish the manuscript. In the dedicatory, indeed, Plantin notes in passing: 'Or ce livret m'estant ia passé quelque temps tumbé entre les mains, ie n'ay, pour l'acquit de mon estat envers le public, deu plus long temps le retenir…'. |
