He probably contacted Plantin some time before 1568, but the typographer must have hesitated before finally deciding to publish the manuscript. In the dedicatory, indeed, Plantin notes in passing: 'Or ce livret m'estant ia passé quelque temps tumbé entre les mains, ie n'ay, pour l'acquit de mon estat envers le public, deu plus long temps le retenir…'. |
