Note 1 Twenty-two songs (with music) and poems in French on Biblical texts and subjects (pages 2-90), followed by some on specific prayers (L'oraison de nostre Seigneur: page 91; Confession de foy: pages 92-93; Exposition des dix commandemens de Dieu par Iesus Christ: pages 94-96; Hymne de la sainte Cène: pages 97-104, this last one signed 'Arbre d'arbrisseau').
Note 2 The privilege is granted to the author (the petition to the Privy Council, written by the author, with in margin the authorization dated 7 November 1578 and underneath the signature of the responsible official, is preserved in Museum Plantin-Moretus, Arch. 116, page 433), but in the 'summary' on page [107] it is specified that the author permitted Plantin to print the work. It may, consequently, be surmised that de Navières took the initiative, and that to oblige this follower of the Prince of Orange Plantin accepted to publish it.
Note 3 Listed in M 296, folio 4r (Cantiques de C. de Nauieres, 8⁰, 1579, f[euilles] 6½, [price:] stuivers 2½; twice repeated), and M 164, folio 7v.
