Note 1 | Opera omnia contain the introductory part described in this no., the reprint of 5 treatises, published previously, and a new study, Electorum liber secundus. All these treatises have a special title-page and their own pagination which formally make of them a separate edition; they are described separately. |
Note 2 | The five reprinted studies are: a) Antiquarum lectionum commentarius (see no. 1546; first edited by 1575); b) Epistolicarum quaestionum libri V (see no. 1555; first edited by 1577); c) Electorum liber primus (see no. 1541. first edited by 1580); d) Variarum lectionum libri III (see no. 1548; first edited by under a slightly different form: 1569); e) Satyra Menippaea (see no. 1560; first edited by 1581). For the Electorum liber secundus: see no. 1542. |
Note 3 | The work was printed in the Officina Plantiniana in Leiden, but part of the edition received a title-page with Plantin's Antwerp imprint. In this Antwerp version, however, the last four pages have been omitted. |
Note 4 | In the two Plantinian book catalogues, M 296 and M 321, the edition is entered under the year 1586. M 296, folio 9v, specifies '[Justi Lipsii] opera critica omnia aº 1586, f[euilles] 103½, [price:] stuivers 30'. M 321 (under the year 1586) is somewhat more explicit: 'Eiusdem [= J. Lipsii] opera omnia que ad criticam spectant. Quibus accessit Electorum Liber secundus, novus nec ante editus, cetera item varie aucta et correcta: 4º, 1585, Leyden, f[euilles] 103½, [price:] stuivers 30'. |
