Note 3 | The larger part of the edition was sold to Paris booksellers: Lucas Brayer took 50 copies on 8 December 1560 (Arch. 35, folio 117r), and again 200 copies on 7 April 1561 (Arch. 36, folio 3); 975 copies were sent to Guillaume Merlin on 22 March 1561 (Arch. 36, folio 3; cf. Arch. 35, folio 118r, sub 11 March 1561). In the same barrel were packed 25 other breviaries 'pour parfaire le mille' for Martin le Jeune. This Paris bookseller had already had 12 copies on 8 December 1560 (Arch. 35, folio 117r). The price per copy was 10 stuivers |
