Note 2 | At least three editions of this decree were printed in the Officina Plantiniana (see preceding nos.), but for some reason (perhaps when his own editions were completely sold out) Plantin commissioned the Antwerp typographer J. Verwithagen to print a new edition of the decree. Verwithagen received on 4 November 1570 11 florins Carolus guilders 5 stuivers for printing 1,500 copies, representing 22½ reams of paper, at 10 stuivers per ream (Arch. 16, folio 134, and Arch. 31, folio 78). |
