Note 1 | A new edition of the Poemata sacra must have been published in 1581. No copy is known. Not mentioned in RDB and BB. |
Note 2 | The publication is listed in M 321, sub 1581 (Levini Torrentii V.C. Poëmata 16⁰, f[euilles] 9½, [price:] stuivers 3), and M 296, folio 10v ([Levini Torrentii Poemata] Eadem, in 16, a⁰ 1581, f[euilles] 9½, [price:] stuivers 3). It had thus 304 pages, and may, consequently, be considered to be a textual reprint of the 1579-edition. |
Note 3 | The work is mentioned incidentally in a letter to Andreas Papius, 15 February 1581, in which Plantin asks his correspondent to present his excuses to Papius's uncle, Torrentius, for proceeding more slowly than he wishes in printing Torrentius's Carmina (Corr., VI, no. 916: '…et avunculo cui ad me salutem dici percupio et apud illum excusari quod lentius quam voluissem progressum sit in imprimendis ejus carminibus quae brevi Deo favente absolventur'). |
