Note 1Adaptation for use in the schools of the Epitomes orthographiae of Aldus Manutius by Petrus Hegelundus, schoolmaster in Riven (Riben), Denmark (pages 9-41), with an additional list of Latin words compiled from Joachimus Camerarius (Quas inseruimus Ioachimi Camerarii commone-factiunculas, eas depromsimus ex ipsius de Orthographia libello, et Epistola ad Christophorum Scheurlam: pages 42-45), and a brief 'Veteres numerorum notae' (page 45).
Note 2It is not quite clear why Plantin printed and published this work of the Danish schoolmaster. In the dedicatory Hegelundus presents himself as a pupil of Joachimus Camerarius, who in those years was in close contact with Plantin: perhaps the German humanist acted as middleman.
