Note 1 | Reprint of the 1562-edition, with minor changes: the dedicatory to Philip de Montmorency has been deleted and the one to Charles de Berlaymont is replaced by one signed by Plantin, in which the typographer excuses himself for the fact that the 1562-edition, dedicated to de Berlaymont, contains so many errors (for the meaning of this: see preceding no.). |
Note 2 | The cost-accounting note in Arch. 4, folio 101, gives the following details about 'Symbola Heroica Latine': the wages for composing and printing are entered on 8 September 1566 and amount to 23 florins Carolus guilders 3 stuivers (including 1 florins Carolus guilders 3 stuivers 'pour les formats et racoustrer les fig[ures]'). As each copy contains 10 sheets and as 1,600 copies were printed, 35 reams of paper (including 1 ream for 'les imperfections') were used, which, at 1 florins Carolus guilders 12 stuivers per ream, came to 56 florins Carolus guilders, bringing the overall costs to 79 florins Carolus guilders 3 stuivers 'qui est pièce environ 1 stuivers'. |
Note 3 | Listed in M 296, folio 17v ([Symbola Heroica Paradini] Eadem, A⁰ -, f[euilles] 10, [price:] stuivers 2½). |
