Note 1 | In M 296, folio 12v and folio 18v, is listed a 'Novum Testamentum a lovaniensibus collatum 24⁰, a⁰ 73, f[euilles] 15, [price:] stuivers 5'. No copy known. This Novum Testamentum is perhaps in fact the 6th volume of the Bible edition in 24mo of 1574 (see no. cp010658) and as such printed from the edition in 8⁰ of the same year (see no. cp013332). More likely Plantin printed already in 1573, before he started or finished the in 8⁰ edition of 1574, a New Testament in 24mo (perhaps because he received from the theologians of the University of Louvain this part of the Bible at an earlier date than the Old Testament, and brought as quickly as possible this new revised text on the market, without waiting for the rest). In this case it is possible that the type-composition of the in 24mo edition of 1573 has been used for the New Testament in the in 8⁰ Bible edition of 1574. |
