Note 3 | This edition contains the Notationes in Novum Testamentum by Franciscus Lucas, promised by Plantin since 1574 (cf. no. cp013332). The approbatio for these Notationes by the dean of the Louvain Theological Faculty is dated 28 August 1573, that by the censor Eckius 18 July 1579. It is an abridged version of the Notationes in Sacra Biblia (Old Testament and New Testament) by F. Lucas, published by Plantin in 1580. Very likely Plantin had this abridged version in his files since 1573 but had to postpone the publication owing to resistance from Rome (see no. cp013332). |
