Note 1 | Hendrik Alsens printed for Plantin in 1571 two different editions of a Diurnale in 16mo, in part or wholly: on 8 August 1571 'par compte faict avec Henric Alsens il a livré GH. PQ. RS. TV. XY. Aa Bb. Cc Dd. Ee Ff. Gg Hh. Ii Kk, qui sont 10 feilles du premier Diurnal', making 50 reams, at 2 florins Carolus guilders per ream: 100 florins Carolus guilders, and again on 23 August 1571 'receu 18 feilles du Diurnale in 16mo, partly or wholly: on 8 August 1571 'par compte faict avec Henric Alsens il a livré GH. PQ. RS. TV. XY. Aa Bb. Cc Dd. Ee Ff. feilles montent à cinq rames pour feille: 90 rames qui font à 2 florins Carolus guilders la rame: 180 florins Carolus guilders' (Arch. 31, folio 100r). The number of reams of paper used shows that of both editions some 2,500 copies were printed. |
