Note 1 | Only copies with the Leiden-imprint are known. Very likely, however, as for practically all other Lipsius editions published by the Officina Plantiniana in Leiden between 1583-1589, part of the edition received a title-page with Plantin's Antwerp imprint. In fact, the work is listed under the 'Plantinian' editions in M 296, folio 9v, and M 321, folio 14v: 8º, 1588, f[euilles] 7; price: 2½ stuivers |
Note 2 | Collection of corrections of the texts of the tragedies attributed to Lucius Annaeus Seneca, written in the form of a letter (dated: Leiden, 7 October 1587): an answer to Franciscus Raphelengius jr., who intended to publish these tragedies with annotations, and had asked Lipsius to correct the defective passages and to give his opinion on the authorship of the pieces and the order in which they should follow each other. |
Note 3 | The edition by F. Raphelengius jr. of Seneca's tragedies was published in Leiden in 1589 (see no. cp011066). |
