Note 1 | Collection of notes on the work of Claudianus. It was published by Plantin as a kind of appendix to the text-edition of Claudianus by Theodorus Pulmannus, which appeared also in 1572 (the publication has 1571 on the title-page, but in the colophon is stated that it was finished in 1572: see no. cp010237). |
Note 2 | Delrio finished his Emendationes in November 1570 (as said in the foreword to the reader), that is before the publication of Pulmannus's text-edition. He could not, consequently, use this publication, but had to follow another text. In the foreword to the reader, he explains (page 10) that he made his corrections and annotations on a Lyons-edition of 1551 published by Beringus ('a Beringis…excusum') (to be identified with the edition of 1551, Lyons, Apud Theobaldum Paganum: Baudrier, Bibliographie Lyonnaise, 4, page 248). |
Note 3 | Not listed as such in the Plantinian catalogues, but the number of sheets mentioned makes it clear that the treatise was included in (and sold together with) 'Claudianus cum annot. Pulmanni etc., 16⁰, f[euilles] 15, [price:] stuivers 4' (M 296, folio 3r, and M 164, folio 6 roman type; see no. cp010237). |
