Note 1Reprint of the 1559-Dutch edition, without any of the additions of the French editions of 1559 and 1561.
Note 2The work was reprinted in 1571 by Jan van Waesberghen, Antwerp (a copy in Museum Plantin-Moretus, A 4362), who reproduced Plantin's privilege of 6 October 1557, but without quoting Plantin's name. In 1574 the same Jan van Waesberghen published the second volume of the Dutch translation of Alexis's Secreten (a copy in Museum Plantin-Moretus, A 4362), which, to all probability, has never been printed by Plantin - but using again, and without quoting Plantin's name, the privilege issued to Plantin for the French editions of this volume. Probably, Plantin, no longer interested in reprinting the works of Alexis Piemontois, granted Van Waesberghen the permission to use his privilege.
Note 3Listed in M 296, folio 18 recto ([Secreten van Alexis duytsch] In 8⁰ duytsche letter a⁰ 1561, f[euilles] 18½, [price:] stuivers 3).
