Note 1 | A treatise on Latin style-figures written at the demand of the Parisian printer J. Badius (cf. the dedicatory, 2 February 1519). |
Note 2 | The first edition was published in 1519 at Paris by J. Badius. Many others followed another Epitome, adapted by a not named friend, in four separate volumes: (detailed in BB, II, pages 142-148, D 321-336: 1520-1576). |
Note 3 | In 1564 was printed by Joannes Latius, Antwerp, an edition (BB, II, pages 146-147: D 333), which served as model for the Plantin-edition of 1568. |
Note 4 | In that same year 1568 was published another reprint of the 1564-edition (but typographically different from Plantin's publication) by the widow of J. Latius: very probably Plantin and Latius, ignoring each other's intentions, put on the market the same edition at about the same time. |
