Note 1 Second Latin edition, but with new accompanying texts by an unknown author.
Note 2 This edition must have been finished after Plantin's death: in August 1589 J. Moretus charged Galle 45 florins Carolus guilders 10 stuivers 'pour l'impression du Theatrum Ortelianum in epitome redactum contenant 13 f⁰ [feuilles] à rayson de 3 florins Carolus guilders 10 la feille' (Arch. 20, folio 307; text reproduced in Denucé, I, page 251). He bought, from 16 August 1589 onwards, from Galle copies at 1 florins Carolus guilders 12 stuivers a piece (cf. Denucé, I, page 252).
Note 3 The possibility of this Latin edition is mentioned by Plantin in a letter to the Lisbon bookseller Lopez Soarez d'Albergia, 23 December 1588 (Corr., VIII-IX, no. 1422; cf. preceding no.).
