Note 1 Collection of Latin poems in Horatian style on Rhetorics, with annotations by Antonius Morales, Bishop of Michoacan (given in the form of marginals accompanying the text). B. Rekers, Benito Arias Montano, pages 20 and 335 affirms - but without giving references - that this Latin poetry has been written by Arias Montanus about 1550, when studying at the University of Alcala de Henares; he should have earned with it, in a certamen, the title of poeta laureatus.
Note 2 First work of Arias Montanus published by Plantin. As the Spanish theologian lived at the time at Antwerp, the Correspondance is silent about the genesis of the publication.
Note 3 Listed in M 296, folio 11 recto (Rhetorica carmine 8⁰, a⁰ -, f[euilles] -, [price:] stuivers 3).
