Note 1 | Listed in M 296, folio 8 verso ([Horae Rom.] latin francois 16º, f[euilles] -, [price:] stuivers 3½) and folio 9 recto. |
Note 2 | Bowen also mentions Arch. 1228, folio 34 verso, for the title page of this Horae. (Bowen, Books of Hours, 232) |
Note 3 | According to Bowen, the printnig of this edition began in May 1570 and was interrupted for the printing of cp011098, cp011188, cp011697 and cp010351. The Horae was later completed in July 1570. Furthermore, she refers to Arch. 31, folio 131 recto and folio 111 recto for payments for the setting of this Horae and to Arch. 31, folio 148 verso and folio 151 verso for payments for the printing. Finally Bowen mentions that records of a possible second setting and printing of this Horae between 4 August and 7 October 1570 can be found in Arch. 31, folio 131 recto (for the setting) and folios 144 verso and 145 recto (for the printing). (Bowen, Books of Hours, 232) |
Note 4 | According to Bowen, Voet has mistakenly interpreted the outer curve of David’s harp in the image of King David as the “C” monogram of Cornelis Muller. She suggests that a payment to Arnold Nicolai for cutting 16 figures for the “petites heures” (Arch. 31 folio 51 recto) likely documents Nicolai’s responsibility for cutting all of the plates seen in this Horae, including the image of King David.
