The maps are rather crudely executed. Detailed enumeration, with interesting comment, in BB, III, page 451, and Koeman, III, pages 73-74.
Note 2Some variants: in copy KB National Library of the Netherlands the map of Flanders (no. cp010997) has erroneously been replaced by the map of Palestine (which figures also correctly as no. 69); in copy KBR Royal Library of Belgium the map of Livonia (no. cp010624) is printed upside down.
Note 3Plantin charged Galle 21 florins Carolus guilders 3 stuivers for printing the texts (9 November 1577: 'Item pour compte faict avec C. Plantin de l'impression du miroir en flamen 23½ [rames] à 18 stuivers la rame font 21 florins Carolus guilders 3 stuivers': Arch. 18, folio 253; text reproduced in Denucé, I, page 247). The paper must have been supplied by Galle.
