Note 1 | Treatise on moral theology, in the form of a lexicon, with the entries in alphabetical order. |
Note 2 | Reprint of the edition of Venice, Apud Aldi filios, 1554 (cf. Brunet, II, Column 1423). Itself often reprinted in Antwerp: Aeg. Steelsius (printed by A. Radaeus), 1576; P. Bellerus, 1583; P. Bellerus (printed by D. Vervliet), 1591 (Copies of 1 and 3 in KBR Royal Library of Belgium, of 2 in Museum Plantin-Moretus). |
Note 3 | The name of Plantin is not found in the publication, but on 5 April 1561 the typographer supplied to his Antwerp colleague, on whose name the edition is placed, Joannes Steelsius, 1,242 copies of 'Summa Armilla Bartholomei fumi, 8⁰', worth 210 florins Carolus guilders 12 stuivers (Arch. 39, folio 64; cf. Rooses, Musée, page 24). It may, consequently, be assumed that Plantin printed the work for the account of Steelsius. It is possible that a number of copies received a title-page with Plantin's imprint, but no such copies are yet known. |
