| Note 2 | In the foreword to the reader Kiliaan explains that he translated from the French text (according to BB, I, the one corrected by Jean Sauvage, of which editions were published at Paris and Lyons in 1552, 1559, 1561 [and later]), with the help of the Latin translation of Jan Sleedan (Sleidanus: first edition of the first part: Strasbourg, 1545; enumeration of the succeeding editions in BB, I, page 686). |

| Note 4 | The work was printed by Plantin, but has on the title-page the imprint of Franciscus Raphelengius, Plantin's son-in-law. According to RDB some copies must have had the address of another son-in-law of Plantin, Jan Moretus, whilst BB, I, page 681, affirms that prof. Serrure had in his library a copy with Plantin's imprint and printer's mark. It seems, consequently, that the edition was issued with at least three different title-pages. The only known copies to-day show Raphelengius's imprint. |

BB, I, page 681, mentions the existence in the library of professor Serrure of a copy with the address: T'Antwerpen, ‖ By Christoffel Plantijn, 's Conincks Drucker. ‖ M.D. LXXVIII., with printer's mark ⊕ 18. No such copies are known to-day.
C. Antwerp, Jan Moretus.
RDB, page 196 (1578, no. 44), mentions the existence of copies with the imprint of Jan Moretus. No such copies are known.
