Note 1 This edition has been printed in two versions: one with woodcuts (as described here), and one with copper engravings (see following no.).
Note 2 On 13 June 1574 Plantin tells d'Aguillon 'J'ay encores des Missels in folio 1600 qui seroyent bien tost achevés' (Corr., IV, no. 535). According to a note accompanying the draft of a letter to de Villalva they consisted in fact of 1,000 'Missales in folio papel fino y grande con figuras en cobre' and 417 'Missales in folio papel commun con figuras en madera' (Corr., IV, page 97).
Note 3 The edition was shipped to Spain in several consignments: 400 copies 'des Communs' on 6 September 1574 (Arch. 22, folios 44r-vo), 110 copies 'in f⁰ grandes del grande papel con figuras de cobre' on 16 October 1574 (Ibidem, folios 45v-46r), 600 copies of the same version on 2 November 1574 (Ibidem, folios 47r-48v), and 288 of the same version on 29 November 1574 (Ibidem, folios 49r-vo); in all 1,398 copies, of which 998 of the version with copper engravings.
