Note 3 | The cost-accounting note in Arch. 4, folio 103 verso, gives following details about 'Fabulae Aesopi a Laurentio Valla etc': 1,250 copies were printed; the wages for composing and printing quires A-S were paid from 8 September till 25 October 1566 and amount to 19 florins Carolus guilders; another 1 florins Carolus guilders was paid for 'L'exemplaire et les formats'; 23 reams 10 'mains' of 'papier petit carré' were used (including 1 ream 'pour les imperfections'), which, at 1 florins Carolus guilders 8 stuivers per ream, came to 32 florins Carolus guilders 18 stuivers, bringing the overall costs to 52 florins Carolus guilders 18 stuivers |
