Note 1 | From the note 'Ad lectorem' it is clear that these Conciones were intended to go with the 2nd vol. of the Conciones de tempore (published by Plantin in 1577; see no. cp013438): 'Has quinque de Poenitentia conciones, Christiane lector, separatim excudi voluimus, ut qui eas voluerit cum sequenti tomo copulare (qui Quadragesimae conciones continet) facile id possit efficere. Nos enim eius tomi magnitudine deterriti, huic (qui erat paulo minor) adiungere voluimus, qui ad initium usque Quadragesimae peringit: cui tempori hae conciones deserviunt'. Both volumes must normally have been sold together as they are listed as one publication in M 296 (see no. cp013438). |
Note 2 | Plantin followed probably one of the editions issued in Lisbon by Joannes Barrerius in 1573, 1574, 1575 (cf. Palau y Dulcet, 6, page 366, nos. 107769-107770). |
Note 3 | Printed for Plantin by another (unknown) typographer (see also no. cp013438). |
