Note 1 | In M 164, folio 2 verso, is noted 'Advis pacifique de Artus (francois/flameng), whilst M 296, folio 1 verso, lists: 'Advys vreedsaem van Artus 16⁰ latin-fra [ncois], f[euilles] -, [price:] stuivers -). It is entered in both catalogues after an edition published in 1579, and was very likely issued in that year (it is in any way not noted in M 321, starting in 1580). No copy known. |
Note 2 | It may be assumed that this 'Pacific Advice' of 'Artus', in French (or Latin-French: 'latinfrancois') and in Dutch, belongs to the category of pamphlets on the political situation in the Netherlands so profusely printed in those years and in which production Plantin had a no negligible part (see: Pamphlets). |
