Note 1 | From 10 May 1557 onwards Plantin started selling'Heures en espagnol'. The sales continued through 1558 and 1559. It is not possible to decide if there was more than one edition over those years, and only for one shipment in 1558 a format is given: in 24mo. |
Note 2 | On 10 May 1557 25 copies were sold to Jan Bellart (Bellere) (Arch. 38, folio 5 bis verso), on 12 July 1557 12 copies to the Poule Grasse' (Birckman) (Arch. 38, folio 9 verso), on 17 July 1557 4 copies 'dorées', worth 1 florins Carolus guilders, to Jan Withagen (Arch. 38, folio 19 verso), on 6 September 1558 6 copies 'lié veau', worth 1 florins Carolus guilders 7 stuivers, to Steelsius (Arch. 38, folio 56 verso), and on 12 February 1559 another 12 copies, unbound, worth 1 florins Carolus guilders 16 stuivers, to the same Steelsius (Arch. 38, folio 57 verso). On 11 March 1557 [= for 1558] 12 copies 'Horae en esp. 24º', worth 1 florins Carolus guilders 16 stuivers, were shipped to the Frankfurt Fairs (Arch. 34, page 22); on 24 October 1559 another 50 copies were packed into a crate (probably to be sent to Paris) (Arch. 34, page 33). |
