Note 1 | New series of comments on and explanations of passages of Horatius's works (in 7 chapters). |
Note 2 | In the dedicatory to Plantin Dousa presents this new series as an appendix to his 1580 Commentariolus (see preceding no.), and asks his publisher to add the new treatise to the copies not yet sold of the 1580-publication. Plantin obliged the author in as far as he adapted the numeration of the quires (but not the numeration of the pages) so that they followed the numeration of the 1580 Commentariolus (1580-Commentariolus: A-F; 1582-Adpendix: G-L). But too many copies of the 1580-publication must already have been sold to integrate completely the two studies into one publication. In M 321 the Adpendix is, in any case, listed as a separate work (sub 1582: Jani Douzae Nortw. ad commentariolum suum succidaneorum in Horatium Appendix, 16⁰, f[euilles] 2½, [price:] stuivers 1). |
Note 3 | According to the colophon the printing was finished on 14 February 1582. |
