Note 1 | Martyrologium: pages 3-170. A note 'pio lectori' on page 170 explains that in order to fill a number of pages some prayers have been added ('Has sequentes pagellas, ne vacuae superessent, piis aliquot precatiunculis supplendas esse censuimus…'): Precationes quotidianæ certis horis diei ac noctis fere adaptatae, preceded by B. Chrysostomi ad preces quotidianas exhortatiuncula (171-191). |
Note 2 | There are no indications in the edition itself about the sources used or the printed publication from which it was eventually reprinted. |
Note 3 | The cost-accounting note in Arch. 4, folio 71 verso, gives following details about 'Martyrologium vener. Beda 16⁰': the wages for composing and printing were paid for sheet A-B on 22 September 1564, for C-D on 6 October, for E-F on 21 October, for G-H and I-K on 10 November, finally for L-M 'et la…pie (?)' on 19 November. They came together to 14 florins Carolus guilders 10 stuivers 'Il y est entré 16 rames de papier carré qui couste 23½ stuivers la rame [= in all 42 florins Carolus guilders 6 stuivers] et est faict à 1500'. But the same hand noted later, next to the heading 'Martyrologium …': 'pièces 1250'. This must mean that, in fact, not 1,500 but 1,250 copies were printed. This concords also better with the number of reams used: at 6 sheets per book, 1,500 copies should have needed 18 reams, whilst for 1,250 copies the number was reduced to 15 reams (which, with some 'imperfections', could easily mount to 16 reams). |
Note 4 | The priest of St. Gudule at Brussels who signed the approbatio received a gratuity of 3 florins Carolus guilders (Arch. 3, folio 17 recto: 9 September 1564; the gratuity included also the approbatio for the 'Dictionarium Hebraiensis'). |
Note 5 | Listed in M 296, folio 11 verso (Martyrologium Bedae in 16⁰, a⁰ -, f[euilles] 6, [price:] stuivers 1). |
