Online bibliographical references
Note 1 Set in Hebrew type with vowel-points.
Note 2 Reprint of the in 4⁰ edition of 1566 (see no. cp012550), following very closely its model even in the numbering and the disposition of the pages.
Note 3 The date on the title-page is given as 1580, but the colophon says 1582. In fact, Plantin started already at the end of 1579 with this Hebrew Bible (letter to Buyssetius, 10 December 1579 [Corr., VI, no. 851, page 115]: 'Sub praelish abemus sequentia…Biblia hebraea in 4to'), but the work must only have been finished in 1582, if not in 1583. In any way, in the book-catalogues it is mentioned with or under the year 1583: in M 296, folio 2r ([Biblia Hebraica in 4⁰] eadem 4⁰ a⁰ 1583, [price:] stuivers 50), and in M 321, sub 1583 ('Biblia Haebraica in 4⁰, f[euilles] -, [price:] stuivers 50').
Note 4 The type-composition was used to issue editions in 16mo of the Psalmi, 1581 (see no. cp011432), and the Proverbia, 1581 (see no. cp012110).
