Note 1 The text of Terentius's comedies, each preceded by an 'argumentum' (summary), with marginal notes; edited by Theodorus Pulmannus.
Note 2 In Pulmannus's foreword to the reader (folio 1v), the editor remains vague about the sources used.
Note 3 In the interesting note to the reader (folio 167v), Plantin explains why, for this small pocket-edition, he preferred to use instead of Italics (since the time of Aldus Manutius customary for classical texts) the more robust and more legible Roman type (cf. L. Voet, The Golden Compasses, II, page 159).
Note 4 The sale of a number of copies are noted in Plantin's ledgers in early 1561 (Arch. 35, folio 122r: 12 'Terentius 16⁰ Pulmanni', worth 1 florins Carolus guilders 4 stuivers, to Jacques du Puis, 18 February 1561; Arch. 36, folio 5v: 2 copies, worth 4 stuivers, to Francois Brassardt, bookseller in Cambrai, 28 April 1561), which seems to imply that the edition must have been issued late in 1560.
Note 5 Listed in M 296, folio 18v (Terentius in 16⁰ a Pulmanno castig[atus], A⁰ 1560, f[euilles] 10½, [price:] stuivers 1¾).
